Description
I couldn't quite get this down to species, but I'm sure it is from the genus Araneus. The colors were so handsome! There are about 650 species of Araneids - fairly common spiders.
This picture was taken in September of 2010, as I recall. The data are lost - arghhh., and I know it was at the Green Lane Reservoir in Red Hill, Pennsylvania, USA.
You can get some general information on these interesting spiders at:

We will get you to love spiders yet! I don't want to cuddle with them, but they are amazing in their colors, shapes, and lifestyles. Thanks, my dear, for the brave comment and the super wonderful V/F!
