Description
Jumping spiders are my favorites! There are hundreds of kinds and they all have marvelous eyesight and great jumping prowess. They do not build capture webs, only silken sleeping retreats, and they wander about (mostly in daytime) hunting for their dinner.
They have beautifully colored patterns, and many have gorgeous iridescence on their jaws.
This picture was taken July 30, 2009, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA. I do not know the exact species - sorry.

I found one in my hostas last spring. And I did try for a photo, but one can barely see it. This is GREAT, Carol. Thanks! F/L+++

What a great capture Carol! I'm not a big fan of spiders in general, but for some reason I've always liked jumping spiders--this one's really quite beautiful! f/v
Carol Senske replied:
Many thanks, ABSP:>) They are magnificent critters! You just need to get to know some others, too. You'll be hooked on spiders.
