Description
I did manage to find what I believe is a good ID for this interesting fungus. It was growing on a branch of oak blown down by high winds, and it appeared to be what is commonly called a jelly fungus. These fungi help break down a dead or dying tree or branch. What you see here are "fruiting bodied" which produce the spores that grow the next generation. The rest of the fungus grows inside and out of sight.
