Description
These adorable little gems of fungi grow throughout most of the summer months on pieces of dead wood that are damp and on the forest floor. Their name comes from the way these mushroom resemble a bird's nest with eggs inside. The white "eggs" are spore sacs. The mushrooms are less than 1/4" across so look hard and you may find them:>)
This picture was taken in a hardwood forest in Montgomery County, PA, USA, on August 20, 2011.

Wow, what a wonderful find Carol - such a great eye. And all the textures and forms here make for an overall beautiful shot. Love the tones as well. F/V

Aren't they fun! There are a couple other types that have "eggs", but I need better pics. Mushroom are never-ending in their diversity:>). Thank you for your lovely comment, vote, and fave!
