Description
Vintage, also called antique, fishing tackle is a hot collector's item these days. The saltwater lures (plugs) are eagerly sought after, especially in excellent to mint condition. I prefer those that show their age and the effects of battles waged with fierce fighting fish.
This wooden lure is called the Striper X Pert Flaptail. They were made by the Pt. Jude Baits in the 1940's. The company was located in Rhode Island. More information can be read at

Great image, beautifully captured and edited! Should be a loved item with the fisherman and outdoor sportsman. FV

I think the lore of the lure, so to speak, is in the workmanship and the fact they were made from wood in what, today, would be limited numbers. Those who want the pristine specimens can have them. The used and loved ones are the guys that interest me:>) Thanks for the thoughtful comment and V/F - all are greatly appreciated!!!!

Good evening, dear friend! I've been thinking of you and making myself promises to email you. Hope your house is bursting with Christmas spirit, and I hope you're ready to make your dash to Colorado :>). My friend in St. Petersburg is leaving home Tuesday and making a float trip (in her kayak) down 3 northern FLA rivers - how about that for serenity! I'm so happy you like this series of images (more to come). Zazzle seems to like them better than FAA but they're in my stores which are five years old and have a following. Thank you for giving this guy a lovely compliment and that old, gratefully accepted, V/F!!!
