Description
PICKEREL FROG - Rana palustris
I had the devil of a time trying to figure out which frog this was - Leopard? Pickerel? The coloring doesn't really look like either but no other Pennsylvania frog comes close. Oaky - next I saw the eyes sit high on the head and the front toes look a bit stubby with no web. The spots are not obviously surrounded by white borders. Other than that, I haven't a frog's leg to stand on:>)
This picture was taken in the Milford Township Preservation Area, Pennsylvania, USA, on April 2, 2013.
In the hope the identification is correct, I suggest a visit to this site for further information:>)

And if you're curious about the Leopard frog, try this:

NOTE: My brother thinks this may be one of the Northern Leopard Frog morphs that has no spots - sounds logical. Any experts out there who can weigh in?

A lovely collage, Carol! But where is his princess?
Carol Senske replied:
His princess went for a walk in the sunshine - shy little thing! Tank you for browsing, Kathryn!
