On a lazy summer afternoon, the hummingbirds make time to visit and sip nectar from the Monarda flowers. This is a male Ruby-throated hummingbird, the only one that is common in our area.

F/L. They really are amazing. When we first began feeding them and watched them, we were aghast at how territorial and ready to fight these tiny birds are. They are like fearsome jewels with wings:>)
