Description
This tract of about 1800 acres of land was purchased by the Massachusetts Fish and Game with monies from hunting and fishing licenses and equipment. The idea was to provide hunting access and to help with wildlife management. I knew it as a place to search out spiders and butterflies with my Dad. There was, and I hope still is, an area for people to fly their model airplanes, many trails for walking and horseback riding, and lots of birds, insects, and other animals to fins and enjoy. (Lots of poison ivy, too).
FCMA is located in Hatchville, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Visit it if you are in the area.
"The conservation area is named for Charles Crane’s daughter, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1954 after attending an opening at Falmouth Playhouse. It was her sons who sold the land to the state and asked that it be named for their mother, Frances Crane." https://300committee.org/conservation-lands-2/crane-wildlife-management-area/
