Description
We love our Turk's Cap Lilies, coddle them, watch for borers, spray with Liquid Fence (works wonderfully!), and we love our butterflies:>) These gorgeous wildflowers attract swallowtails especially, and they crawl up inside the flowers getting their bodies and wings covered in pollen.
Turk's Cap Lily - Lilium superbum
Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly - Papilio glaucus

A gorgeous butterfly and a stunning lily! What a glorious combination!
Carol Senske replied:
They are such a gift. Our lilies struggled for the last few years - perhaps global climate change is making things tougher as our temps are noticeably higher than when we moved here about 55 years ago. New pests, like the corn borer and some aphids, arrived and cause the lilies to die. Thank you for this great comment!

We call this flower the tiger lily, that butterfly was visiting his kin. whatever the name it is beautifully marked...v/f
Carol Senske replied:
I believe Tiger Lily is one of the common names for these beauties:>) Perhaps there is a natural affinity between the two, flower and butterfly:>) Thank you, ma'am, for this great comment and for the V/F!
