Description
I have a couple iterations of this image, but I'm favoring this dual tone version. Goldenrod is a beautiful plant with deep gold flowers and NO allergies!!!
Goldenrod is pollinated by insects and very little pollen is carried in the air. The culprit is Ragweed (genus Ambrosia with numerous species) which sends it's pollen out on the breeze and into your eyes and noses. Don't blame goldenrod! Enjoy the autumn color it provides.
Our most common species of Goldenrod is Solidago gigantea - Giant Goldenrod or Tall Goldenrod. It can stand seven feet high and when growing in large areas it is a magnificent sight. Bees, wasps, butterflies - all kind of insects love this plant.
