Description
This Canada Goose was faithfully keeping the eggs warm, not moving. This hummock is in a small, shallow pond in Tylersport, Pennsylvania, USA. The picture was taken April 13, 2013.
Canada Geese have a shady reputation and few people can distinguish the non-migratory from the migratory groups. Those that migrate are not a problem while the non-migratory goose populations can explode leaving people to find creative ways to rid themselves of the bothersome birds with all their noise, aggressiveness, and poop. Some inventive folks trained dogs to chase the geese and keep them away.
The geese on this pond are proper, migratory geese:>) Learn more here -

Beautiful! I've never seen the geese nesting like this! Wonderful image "Mother Nature".. I like your new name! FV.. thanks for all the features and visits! FV

One of these days I'll get a shot of them nesting on a BIG pile of vegetation. Some are a couple feet high, but the only place I've seen it where I had half a chance is Cape Cod and that is a once a year visit - usually miss nesting season. I love to feature your work, Kym:>)
