The grackles on Island Beach State Park learned to mimic sandpipers to find a meal. They run back and forth at the edge of each wave, poking into the sand for small crustaceans and anything else that provides nourishment.

This is a lovely photo, and in a way quite touching how this lonely bird goes about its life...

Carol Senske replied:
Hi, Lenore:>). Thank you for your comment, V/F, and the invitation to add the picture to the group - Done, by the way:>). I see too many awesome (and I do mean AWESOME) bird photographs here to ever think mine can compare. I do love the birds, however, and continue to photograph them and post the results. Just because I love these other images so much, I began a group called Feathers; the talent there is huge. I get to enjoy the pics and love the members, too. There is an ocean of photographic talent out there in the internet ether!

Carol, I love this piece... lighting, composition, timing and reflection, PERFECT!!!!!!! Thank you for allowing us to view the world through your eyes! BTW, ticks should also be included with flies and and mosquitoes :)-
Carol Senske replied:
Thank you kindly, Jean-Marie, and I agree with the ticks and flies being outside only:>).

A poignant picture. By the way, I very much respect your comments about animals not being harmed and spiders being removed gently. Good for you. : -)
Carol Senske replied:
Thanks again. We know everything has its place in the ecosystem and try to be mindful of that - mosquitoes and houseflies don't count, however, unless they're outside:>)
