Description
This trail is one of two I like to walk when we visit Buxton on Hatteras Island. The Loblolly Pine trees dominate. The trail angles from the road going to the beach down toward the beach.
There is WW11 burial site for a couple of British soldiers. I wasn't aware that the British came to our aid and patrolled the Atlantic coast for German submarines which were coming close to shore with the intent to do us harm. Check it out here:

A quote fro the website referenced below is:
"Quiet little Buxton is located on North Carolina’s Outer Banks (OBX) and is well known for two things. Buxton is the location of the famous Hatteras Lighthouse. This is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States at 208 feet tall. Also Buxton has some of the nation’s finest ocean surf fishing at a location affectionately called by the locals "The Point"."
Highway 12 is now open and functioning well, so the website is just a tad out-dated about the damage from Hurricane Irene.

I used a texture from Textureking to enhance the photo.

Beautiful landscape Carol! This looks like a great place to walk. V/F
Carol Senske replied:
It's very peaceful with only bird songs, bug songs, and the sound of waves as a backdrop. The ocean is off to the right, quite a way over but in hearing distance. No ocean breeze so take your bug repellent:>). Thanks for the comment, Vote, and Fave!
