Description
Bloodroot is one of the earliest wildflowers to bloom in our locale. The flowers come up clasped by a single leaf. These pretty flowers are relatively short-lived, but once they're done the leaves grow to their potential - lovely, lobed, deep green leaves. Ants help disperse seeds for the plant.
I took this picture in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA, on April 16, 2015 using a Canon T4I and a Tamron macro lens (90 mm).
