Bloodroot flowers are among the very first to appear in springtime, and they bloom before the leaves appear. This picture was taken May 12, 2012, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA, long after the flowers are gone.

I began my photographic journey with the idea in mind to take pictures of whatever in an "as is, where is" manner. Sometimes that makes for a difficult or impossible situation (and I've learned to love Photoshop and textures), but sometimes, like this picture, it is the only way to go (in my humble opinion). There is absolutely no processing of any sort here, just sunshine and shadows and detritus:>) Thanks so very much for this lovely comment, fave, and vote:>)
