I was bored and waiting for my car to be done with it's 100,00 mi check up and wandered outside the dealership. The Power Plant was looming over the landscape so what else could I do? I took a picture. For all the beautiful words and descriptions, etc. we hear about the plant, there are equal not-so-beautiful words and descriptions for this aging behemoth. I decided to show both sides - ugly industrial and the other.
The picture was overlaid with a background from Photoshop that I used as a texture layer. It has a plant-like pattern. I removed the color, sharpened it, re-colored it, duplicated it, flipped it, re-colored that layer, fiddled with transparencies and here it is - THE PLANT.
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

I think this makes a very interesting statement, both sides of the plant and a bit of play on works. There is subtle dramatic feeling, like things could either way. Captivating photography Carol! V/F/T
Carol Senske replied:
I'm very pleased you find this interesting. It's true I rarely do something without a reason whether it be wording, colors, textures, etc. A zillion thanks for the comment and V/F/T!
