Nursery Web Spider - Pisaurina mira metal print by Carol Senske. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
Nursery web spiders, Pisaurina mira is one, make a web for their eggs when they are ready to hatch, guard them until they hatch, then hang around until the babies are ready to leave home. Their color is variable, but most of them around our area are a grayish brown. This handsome orange/brown is not common. This picture was taken September 2, 2008. We just saw a couple more this year (September 2011).

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....
