Very pretty Carol! I don't have any of those, maybe I should get some! l/f

Carol Senske replied:

We have these here as wildflowers, but I see them advertised from nurseries. Majestic for sure, especially in a clump since most stems can have a total of 8 or ten flowers. Thanks for the nice comment:>)

Wonderful to have these lovely lilies growing wild around you! I never realized they had broken out of the burbee seed packs into the forests of America!!! Hurray! Great shot! F/L

Carol Senske replied:

Thanks for taking a minute to visit and comment - so appreciated as I know how busy you are. We are exceptionally lucky to have these and I don't see many, but the edge of our woods seems to suit them. I never knew they were available in seed packs - LOL. Ours came with the house when we bought it over 50 years ago, and there are a few here and there. So many were destroyed to make way for houses.

Artist's Description

It's Tiger Lily season and ours are blooming. They are one of the most impressive wildflowers in our area, growing to an easy six feet tall with lovely orange flowers spotted with brown. They have little bulblets growing in the leaf axils which will fall and sprout new plants.

These are early summer wildflowers with a relatively short blooming time. They were originally from Asia, but over the many years have naturalized and earned their place as an American wildflower.

About Carol Senske

Carol Senske

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....
