Your gallery looks so beautiful dear Carol. This image drew me in with it's soft and pleasing colors and that feeling of magic in the garden any time of day, and a sense of that secret pleasure we take from the gifts of the season. Lovely to visit you and so happy to be in touch. Stay well. Hugs. xxx

Lovely work, Carol. These are on my list for fav flowers. Our neighborhood has received the message from the bees and birds...because there are coneflowers on every street!! I love them in pink! F/L+++

Carol Senske replied:

Hi, Lady! I hear scary things about Missouri, and then I hear them about here, too. You and yours just be safe and stay well - you are on my mind:>) Aren't the coneflowers beautiful. What butterflies we have love them, and so do the bees and beetles and such.

Beautiful. I really like the slightly antique look.

Carol Senske replied:

Hi, Bette! Thanks for taking time to visit and comment - I am so happy to see you. Things are busy here and through this week that won't change much - something every day - LOL. Next week is already August! Can't believe it. Stay warm and well:>)

Artist's Description

Coneflowers are beloved by insects, spiders, birds, you name it. Even people adore it.

I leave the dead seed heads on all winter as the goldfinches come to feed on the seeds. Solitary bees and some other bugs make the dry, hollow stems a home through the bad weather and cold, and praying mantises lay their egg masses all through the patch of plants.

Hybrids include quite a few colors, and height can vary from 2 to 4 feet. These wildflowers grow at least four feet tall.

I used a filter from Lightroom to add this summer glow.

About Carol Senske

Carol Senske

I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....
