Description
This is a small, late spring wildflower. The leaves look like grass and the bloom stalk is only about eight inches high at most. The plants don't crowd together in huge displays, but are rather spread out and inconspicuous. They are not uncommon but they are not everywhere either, and we would probably pass them by except for the bright yellow flowers. I find them most often in damp areas with dappled sunlight.
This picture was taken with a Canon T5i and a Tamron 90 mm macro lens set on f2.8, ISO 400 (shady locale), and hand held with the shutter speed at 160. It was May 26, 2018 in Finland, Pennsylvania where there is a nice, open space park.
The Yellow Star Grass is a member of the lily family.
