Description
This lovely orange caterpillar is one of the types of "wooly bear" caterpillars, of which the orange and brown ones are best known. The adult is the Virginia Tiger Moth, a lovely white, fuzzy moth. (It might also be another type of Tiger Moth but I'm giving this my best shot.).
They are unspecific in their diet, and whenever I've found them they are on the ground or in the grass. This one was pretty large and happily grazing on weeds.
The picture was taken August 25, 2012, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA.

Cough, cough, me thinks I have a "furball" LOL I just love this fine macro shot of this caterpillar and the lovely green leaves it finds nutritious, Carol! Very well captured and superb presentation of mother nature's own artistic palette!
Carol Senske replied:
hahahahaha - loving the "furball" comment. It reminded me of pet people who say if you don't want hair on your clothes, don't sit on the furniture! Why do you think it's called "fur"niture? Thank you kindly for the feature:>)

Oh I love wooly bears, it was the only caterpillar I'd touch when I was a kid, v/f
Carol Senske replied:
Hi, Sharon! How're ya doing? I know vacation is creeping up on you and you must be busy:>) Didn't we have un as kids with these little guys - thanks so much for the V/F.
