Music Of The Wind And Waves
By Carol Senske
Listen!
Hear the fluid sand
Moving
Beneath the curling waves.
Each grain
Coaxed shoreward by the tide
Whispers
against its brothers skin.
Come!
The water tickles
Shells
Twirls, lifts, and rattles them
Sharply
Creating counterpoint
Like cymbals -
Musical sharp edges.
Taste!
The wind is salty
Spice
To tantalize the tongue
Tempting
Lips open, tasting mist.
Eyelids low
The sea is taking charge.
Dance!
Where sand meets ocean
Boundry
Of two worlds becoming one
Liquid sand
Terra-not-so-firma.
Become one,
With sand and wind and waves.

"NATURE HAS MUSIC FOR THOSE WHO LISTEN." William Shakespeare. Many years of personal experiences have taught me that this is music of a different kind. It is a mellifluous rhythm that beats to the glorious dance of creation. Once you hear this divine symphony a major shift will take place in the deepest recesses of your psyche and you will never be the same person again. In one of his poems, the Indian poet and Nobel laureate, Tagore expresses this inner transformation more eloquently than I can : "WHEN OLD WORDS DIE OUT ON THE TONGUE, NEW MELODIES BREAK FORTH FROM THE HEART."
