Description
There are many reasons to grow this lovely, native shrub as a part of your landscape. First, because it is native it has few problems. In the Spring you'll get lovely umbrels of white flowers and glossy green leaves shaped like a maple tree's foliage. In Autumn you'll het these beautiful colors that range from red to pink to purple and purple.blue, plus it has berries - handsome dark blue berries that wildlife loves.
This picture was taken today, October 11, 2013, in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA. The leaves are just beginning to turn. In a week or so they will be gorgeous purple/blue to magenta.
You can read more about them here. They grow in our woods, like rich, moist earth and partly shady locations.

Oh how stunning Carol - look at that color! And the sheer perfection of that capture. Gorgeous composition and wonderful information too. There is something about this time of the year that just opens our hearts to all that is beautiful, don't you think? F/V
