Artist's Description
Original picture and poem. Every choice we make means a turning in direction. Each turn leads to other choices and other turns which become the framework of our destiny. The bramble tendrils twist and turn until they find a place to hold, then the plant grows, makes another tendril, grabs hold, and these choices determine how the plant grows. We are blind to the path we walk just as the plant is blind to where it grows.
About Carol Senske
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

I'm so glad that you are a fellow Cohen fan. K D Lang's rendition of "Hallelujah" is other-worldly in my mind. It brings me to tears. I think my favorite song of his is "Alexandra Leaving" – another masterpiece.
Carol Senske replied:
That is also a hauntingly beautiful song. His poetry cuts to the heart.

This is a wonderful image and poem, Carol. The last line in your description, "We are blind to the path we walk just as the plant is blind to where it grows." reminds me of a line from Leonard Cohen: "You can read the life you’re living but you can’t change a word."
Carol Senske replied:
I love Leonard Cohen - what a loss for mankind when he died. I regularly listen on uTube to K D Lang at his memorial concert singing "Hallelujah". Thank you for this especially wonderful comment! Made my day:>)
