This dragonfly is one that I can't positively ID, so if anyone can help I would love it! This picture was taken on Island Beach State Park, New Jersey, USA, on August 26, 2012. IBSP is a barrier island that is kept largely unspoiled.

I have seen them in places where fairies might dwell, but fairies are so shy - who can know for sure?

He holds a special place for me, my little granddaughter lost her father in a motorcycle accident when she was two.. as we walked along a path at the park a blue butterfly landed on her stroller and rode with her for most of the walk, I said, "he really likes you Mckena", to which she replied, That's my daddy..he comes all the time. we began to notice every blue dragonfly after.. v/f

You are correct, as usual:>) You know how big dragonflies were 300 million years ago – the largest fossil found had a 2 ½ foot wingspan. The Brachiosaurus probably stood and contemplated these guys as they flew by - they weren't deep thinkers (the dinosaurs, I mean, but then I guess neither were the dragonflies). Even mushrooms wouldn't help these guys.
