Description
The Dog Stinkhorn mushroom, also called the Elegant Stinkhorn, is a small, thin fungus that likes growing in wooded areas. The gooey olive green sticky stuff is a spore-bearing medium that flies and other insects love. The bugs act as spore distributing agents by carry and spreading the gleba (gooey stuff) either on their bodies or in their stomachs. Some stinkhorns have an intensely horrible smell; this type only smells like mild cat feces but insects can't resist it.
The mushroom grows from something that looks like an egg and reaches it's full size in about 4-1/2 hours. They are delicate and short-lived.

Very cool capture.

Aren't they strange! We do get them occasionally but I had to wait a few years to find one:>)
