Description
These amazing birds travel thousands of miles on their annual migrations. They are our only hummingbird in this area, but we are delighted when the males show up in late April (followed by females a couple weeks later) and we are saddened when the last youngster is gone in early September. For such tiny birds they have a fierce personality and they carry on loudly, swooping and diving at breakneck speed, chasing others away from the feeder. They incorporate spiderwebs into their nests, and they sometimes pick insects right out of a spider's web:>)
