Description
This is a picture I took at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware, USA. Although the birds were few and far between on this particular day, there were a few and they were beautiful.
This picture was taken October 2, 2014 with a Canon T4i and a Tamron lens (150 - 600).
Great Blue Herons are the largest of our American herons, and lightening fast when they strike out to catch themselves a meal. Watching these birds wade and hunt is a thrill. They are common and not endangered, and you may read more about them at:

What a nice shot! And I love all of the grey and black designs on this one. Handsome!! I also love to watch them hunt for supper. Very exciting!!!

Thanks! I was so tickled to find one that was actually near enough for me to grab a picture. This one has lovely color, too, so I was doubly fortunate:>)
